It's been a great 11.5 years. We bought this Taurus just before our family expanded to two kiddos. It has taken us on trips to Utah and California, but mostly was used as a commuter car.
A few years ago, someone stopped and asked if it was for sale... uh, no, I need it to get to work!!
Now that I have my new car, we don't need it anymore. I had meant to get a for sale sign on it, but didn't get there. Yesterday as we were fixing dinner after church, someone came to the door, interested in it. I talked with them, and they looked at it, but told them they had to come back, because I wouldn' t do business on Sunday.
So, they came after two this afternoon - handed me the cash and they drove off in my little car.. We got nearly 120k miles out of it - I think we got our money's worth! I got rear ended once in it - after M was born - but other than that - it's been a good car. But - I'm not sorry to see it go! So long, farewell, auf wiedersen, adieu!

It's amazing how many memories one little car can hold!
Wow. If only it was that easy to sell for most people! You must be a magnet for good!
That's pretty amazing. How do you think they knew it was for sale?
I had something similar happen a few years ago with my Toyota wagon that had 240,000 miles on it! I had just bought a new car and my old car was out in the driveway. A stranger who had been driving through the neighborhood (to look at a car advertised at a neighbor's house) knocked on my door and asked if it was for sale. He thought it looked out of place.
He gave me $800 cash on the spot and I was very relieved not to have to worry about selling it.
Wow thats pretty cool that people are knocking on your door wanting to hand you money! :)
When I was 5 my parents sold our family van and I cried. I told my dad it was a member of our family and I was mad at him for like a week! You don't have to tell me how sentimental cars can be, I name ALL of the cars that come to our family!
How cool is that? MONEY IS A GOOD THING!!!!!! I'm glad it sold for you. I get attached to things, too. I am a huge preserver of memories. Way to go..and by the way, cinnamon rolls ALWAYS work for hometeaching visits, they were de-lish! Thanks
I keep hoping to see my old car that I sold around town. So far, nothing.
